Moving a whole household is a lot of small decisions stacked on top of each other, and doing it around a job and a family makes it heavier. FLYT takes the weight off. We're a locally owned moving company serving Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC, and we handle full-service home moves start to finish: single-family houses, townhomes, and condos alike. Packing through unpacking, a dedicated coordinator who knows your move, and a background-checked crew that treats your place like it's their own. More than a thousand DMV families move with us every year, and the reviews (5/5 across 350-plus) come from getting the details right.
Searching for residential moving near you? FLYT Moving & Storage provides professional residential moving across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC, from Ashburn and Leesburg to Manassas, Woodbridge, and beyond.
What full-service residential moving includes
Full-service means we can carry as much of the load as you want us to. That can be everything: boxing up the kitchen and closets, wrapping the furniture, loading, driving, unloading, reassembling, and unpacking on the other end. Or it can be just the heavy lifting while you handle your own boxes. Single-family homes, townhomes, and condos each have their quirks, from finished basements and three-story stairs to shared elevators, and our crews have worked them all across Northern Virginia and the wider DMV.
- Full or partial packing and unpacking service

One coordinator who owns your move
Every residential move gets a dedicated coordinator, one person who knows your dates, your inventory, your building rules, and the pieces you're worried about. They put the plan together, size the crew and trucks to the house, sort out any HOA certificate of insurance or elevator reservation, and stay reachable if the day shifts. You're not re-explaining your move to a new voice every time you call. It's a small thing that makes a large day run a lot smoother.
How we protect your home end to end
Two homes get protected on a residential move, the one you're leaving and the one you're arriving at. Floor runners go down over hardwood and carpet, doorways and banisters get padded, and tight corners and stair turns are watched closely. Furniture is padded and shrink-wrapped before it moves, standard pieces are disassembled and rebuilt, and glass, mirrors, and electronics get extra care. Your security deposit and your new floors both come through it intact, which is the whole idea.
How residential pricing works
If you're moving within the DMV, a residential move is billed hourly by crew size and trucks, with a three-hour minimum plus a standard travel fee, and no add-on for stairs, long carries, or extra stops. If you're heading out of state, we quote a flat, binding rate instead. Either way you get a free, no-obligation estimate up front so there's a real number to plan around. A local deposit of roughly $100 to $200 holds your date, and you settle the balance at completion.

Good to know
Frequently asked questions
What does full-service residential moving actually cover?
As much or as little as you like. At the full end, we pack every room, wrap and load the furniture, drive, unload, reassemble, and unpack. At the lighter end, you pack the boxes and we do the muscle. Your coordinator helps you decide where to draw the line based on your budget and your timeline.
Do you move condos and townhomes, not just single-family homes?
Absolutely. Townhomes with their three-story stairs and condos with shared elevators and loading docks are a big part of our residential work across the DMV. We handle the certificate of insurance and elevator reservation where a building requires it, and there's no extra charge for the stairs.
Can you pack and unpack for me?
Yes, both. We'll box up the whole house with proper cartons and padding, and on the other end we can unpack, place your things, and haul off the empty boxes. Many families have us pack the kitchen, closets, and fragile items and handle the rest themselves. It's your call, room by room.
How much does a residential move cost?
Local residential moves are hourly, priced by crew and trucks with a three-hour minimum plus a travel fee. Out-of-state homes get a flat, binding rate. Because a two-bedroom condo and a five-bedroom house are worlds apart, we give you a free estimate with a real range before you book anything.
How far ahead should I schedule my home move?
For a full house, two to four weeks of lead time is ideal, and month-end and summer weekends fill fastest. That said, we book shorter timelines all the time and will tell you honestly what's open. Locking your date early with a small deposit is the surest way to get the day you want.
